Bea Systems has announced the general availability of WebLogic Portal 9.2, WebLogic Server 9.2 and Bea Workshop for WebLogic 9.2. BEA WebLogic Portal 9.2 is a JEE-based enterprise portal server that is designed to help simplify the production and management of custom service-oriented portals.
The enhancements included in WebLogic Portal 9.2 are:
Standards-based portlet federation, based upon the WSRP standard
A new community framework, as part of portal business services that is designed to simplify portal membership, management, and end user production of community portals.
Portal lifecycle management capabilities including the new release of BEA Workshop for WebLogic which provides an Eclipse-based development environment for Java, portal, Web, and service-oriented applications
Upgrade wizards are designed to allow customers to upgrade the portal domain from 6.1, 7.0, 8.1 and WebLogic Portal 8.1.4 and 8.1.5 portal applications
BEA Workshop for WebLogic Platform 9.2 delivers a standards-based development tool and optional programming model that is designed to help IT deliver new SOA services, simplify development and more easily leverage existing systems. Version 9.2 includes the following enhancements:
Eclipse 3.1 tools for SOA components, Web Services, Web Applications, WebLogic Portal and JEE development
Upgrade wizards for customers to upgrade an 8.1 workshop domain and 8.1 workshop applications to Workshop for WebLogic
BEA WebLogic Server 9.2 is designed to offer enterprise-grade functionality to help keep applications up and running while helping to reducing costs associated with monitoring and managing production systems. Refinements included in WebLogic Server 9.2 are:
Zero downtime enhancements for the upgrade of individual WebLogic Server nodes in a cluster without needing to take an entire cluster off line
Hot swappable application deployment improvements to support web services, rich client applications and Web applications
