NetApp Backs Up Biotech Company to Meet SAP Performance
Network Appliance Inc. has announced that Switzerland-based Lonza Group Ltd., a chemical and biotechnology company, is relying on its networked storage systems and data management software to manage SAP application data, with improved performance and related cost savings of about 30%.
NetApp is helping Lonza Group store, access, and protect its SAP business applications, which run a range of mission-critical operations, including finance, logistics, purchasing, and plant management.
NetApp’s Snapshot, SnapRestore, and SnapMirror software, provide Lonza with instantaneous data backup and restore. These software solutions work with the SAP backup tool, which Lonza uses to prepare the underlying Oracle database before performing a snapshot backup.
"NetApp provides Lonza with a scalable approach to powering SAP business applications in our core data center," said Ernst Hutter, head of global data center and infrastructure at Lonza Group Ltd.
