Wipro has announced that it is going to expand its activity in Vizag by investing Rs. 200 crore over the next four-five years. On the occasion of laying the foundation for the Wipro Campus, Chief Operating Officer Lakhsman Rao said the expansion will create 6,000 jobs.
The Andhra Pradesh government has allotted 67 acres to Wipro in the heart of the city at a nominal cost to promote IT industry in the city.
Roa said the state government had initiated steps to provide working capital to the loss-making public sector undertaking, Bharat Heavy Plate and Vessels, through sale of government land adjacent to the plant.
