The Board of Research and Education Advanced Network, New Zealand (REANNZ) has selected TelstraClear to build the Advanced Research Network. TelstraClear provides the research and education community with a network capable of quickly moving terabytes of data, providing access to computational and data resources throughout the world, and enabling researchers and educational users to share scientific research and resources more efficiently and effectively.
Charles Jarvie, Implementation Manager for REANNZ said,"The Advanced Research Network is designed to provide extremely high speed connectivity between research and education users to allow the sharing of resources and exchange of data nationally and internationally, on par with researchers in the rest of the world. We will be greatly improving large data sets and analytical tools through this network, which is optimised for the specialized needs of the academic and research communities, including access to computationally intensive modeling."
The new Advanced Network, deployed and managed by TelstraClear, will deliver 10Gbps connections to most large universities in New Zealand and will carry next-generation IPv6 traffic, including multicast data streams.
TelstraClear is using Juniper Networks M-series routing products to provide the platform for the Advanced Research Network.
"REANNZs Advanced Network project will provide researchers and educational institutions throughout New Zealand with the connectivity and access to resources they require to stay at the forefront of the scientific community," said Shaun Page, vice president of Australia and New Zealand for Juniper Networks.
