PayPal is preparing to offer a service for consumers to make purchases or money transfers using simple text messaging via mobile phones. With Paypal Mobile you can use your phone to send money to people and buy selected items (advertised with Text to Buy) anywhere within the U.S., Canada or the U.K. You can do both of those things by either sending a text message or calling an automated voice system.
You must have a PayPal account in order to use PayPal Mobile. After you activate your phone for PayPal Mobile, you can send money from your PayPal account to any phone number or email address within the U.S., Canada or the U.K. You can send money either by a text message to 729725 (PAYPAL) or by automated voice response by calling 1-800-4PAYPAL (1-800-472-9725). You can also buy select items by phone with Text to Buy.
You can also use 'Text to Buy' to purchase certain items by sending a text message with your phone. Whenever you see Text to Buy in an ad for an item you want to buy, just follow the text message directions shown in the ad. For example, you might see: “To order this DVD, text DVD to 63336.” Immediately after you do that, we will call you back to confirm the order and ask you to enter your PayPal Mobile PIN. Once you confirm, the item is shipped to the home address listed in your PayPal account.
