Gartner Report: SSL VPN Market to Grow

The market for enterprise network security equipment continued to grow strongly in 2007, with robust growth in the Secure Sockets Layer virtual private network (SSL VPN) segment — which grew by about 43%, compared with 2006, says a Gartner report.

The May 2008 report titled “Market Share: Enterprise Network Security Equipment, Worldwide, 2007” also revealed that is expected to continue in the specialized SSL VPN market, due to the more application- and datacenter focused features required for secure and effective SSL VPN connectivity.

“As datacenters become increasingly virtualized and more computing resources move into the cloud, the role of traditional network-based access will continue to give way to application-oriented access solutions,”said Sanjay Uppal, vice president of product marketing at Citrix Systems, Inc.
