imbX 2008 Talks Digital Convergence

The Infocomm Media Business Exchange (imbX) 2008, Asia’s annual infocomm and media event is set to take place from 17 to 20 June in Singapore.

As Digital Convergence continues to drive innovation and change in Asia, telecommunications providers, media publishers and broadcasters are looking to address the new opportunities brought forth by new technologies and imbX has become a popular choice platform for movers and shakers of the ICT and media industries to engage regulators about the challenges and opportunities in their related fields.

The annual event will witness the gathering of the international ICT community including visionaries, government leaders, policy regulators and industry professionals who will share insights and discuss the next generation in digital convergence.

imbX will also present valuable opportunities for new and innovative businesses to reach audiences across the region and explore partnerships that may shape the technology and media landscape of tomorrow.

For the fourth consecutive year, imbX will host the Ministerial Forum on ICT, a closed-door meeting for Ministers and senior government officials throughout the Asia-Pacific and Middle Eastern regions.

Organised by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA), the theme “Broadband: Opportunities and Challenges”, will see invited industry experts share their views on the different approaches to rolling out broadband and lessons learnt from countries with high broadband penetration.

“imbX 2008 is a comprehensive showcase of the immense potential of infocomm technology. This week will be an excellent platform for Singapore infocomm companies to showcase their capabilities, and seek collaboration and partnership opportunities with infocomm players from the region and beyond at the show,” said RADM(NS) Ronnie Tay, Chief Executive Officer, IDA.

Held in conjunction with the largest ICT and media trade shows in Asia, CommunicAsia2008 and BroadcastAsia2008, imbX 2008 continues to serve as an effective, all-encompassing platform where visitors can preview the latest innovations on the Converged Digital Future and network with like-minded peers around the world to seek out new opportunities.

This year’s exhibition is expecting to draw some 68,000 attendees, 50% of whom will be from overseas.

“For most visitors, CommunicAsia and BroadcastAsia is the perfect opportunity to witness convergence in effect. The solutions on display are continuously pushing the edge of technological advancements on a regional and global level,” said Mr Stephen Tan, Chief Executive of Singapore Exhibition Services (SES).

“This crucial mix of relevant technological thought-leadership and attendance by high-level decision makers is the reason why CommunicAsia and BroadcastAsia is the key infocomm and media event in Asia.”

Held for the second time alongside BroadcastAsia is CGOverdrive, Asia’s largest computer graphics event. CGOverdrive2008’s conference and hands-on practical masterclasses will once again feature a star-studded lineup of international CG artists sharing the secrets behind their successful endeavours as CG artists and professionals. A new addition to the show this year is the Business Forum which delves into the business mechanics of producing television series, feature films, and games. With the launch of the Business Forum, CGOverdrive will address both the technical and the business issues within the CG value chain.
