Taiwan Electronics Manufacturer to Work Together with Datacraft for Asia-wide WAN IP Communications Network

Datacraft, a leading independent IT solutions and services company, has won a contract with Silitech Technology, a Taiwan-based multinational electronics manufacturer, to design and implement an IP communications solution that will link a network of five offices in Taiwan, China and Malaysia.

Silitech, which specialises in the design and manufacture of keypads for a variety of applications – including mobile phones, automobile audio systems, remote controls, computer keyboards, calculators and PDAs – is expanding its regional operations, including setting up a new factory in Suzhou, China.

The new IP communications solution from Datacraft will help Silitech to streamline its office network, thereby efficiently manage international calls and improve employee mobility.

"The project was challenging because it involved more than merely designing and implementing a WAN IP solution covering multiple sites. The solution also has to integrate and operate smoothly with Silitech's existing PABX systems and be implemented without interrupting its day-to-day operations," said Benjamin Wang, General Manager, Datacraft Taiwan.

Datacraft's proven experience in large scale, multi-site IPT deployment as well as sophisticated IPT design and implementation capabilities were significant factors in clinching the Silitech deal. The manufacturer was also impressed with Datacraft's wide geographical coverage, which makes centralised project management simpler, more efficient and cost-effective across its distributed offices.

Datacraft will integrate Silitech's existing infrastructure, including standalone PBXs, onto the new WAN IP network which supports softphones, 450 units of IP phones which will eventually grow to more than 2,000 units across the five sites as well as advanced security firewall protection. The converged network is supported by the Cisco Unified Communications Manager which will deliver advanced presence-based communication applications such as Unity Voice Mail to Silitech’s clients and employees.

"IP convergence enables organisations such as Silitech to achieve significant cost savings, realise infrastructure efficiencies, support mobility and enhance productivity. The result of this network upgrade will be a flexible, scaleable, secure and easy-to-manage IP communications solution capable of meeting the manufacturer's existing requirements and future needs." said Wang.

Datacraft will also support the new environment through a Managed Services contract which provides 24x7 Uptime support and management services for the improved network.
