HCL Infosystems, subsidiary of HCL has launched new range of eco-friendly desktops called 'HCL eSafe', complying with RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) standards. This comes after the success of its eco-friendly laptops.
PCs complying with RoHS standards contain negligible or zero quantities of hazardous materials like lead, cadmium and mercury and are therefore cleaner and easily recyclable. Earlier this year, HCL introduced its first range of RoHS-compliant notebooks.
George Paul, Executive Vice-President, HCL Infosystem said, “We are certain that HCL eSafe initiative will not only provide our customers with the satisfaction of buying environment-friendly PCs from their trusted company, but also go on to set new industry benchmarks in environment protection measures.”
The company is providing its existing customers the option to move to these RoHS compliant PCs. It is also offering its customers the option of returning their HCL products for proper disposal, and recycling, free-of-cost.
HCL claims that by this year-end, all HCL’s desktops and notebooks would be RoHS compliant. The company’s eSafe programme is aimed at protecting the environment. |
