Digg.com Adds Social Networking Features

Digg.com has started the first in a series of social networking tools on the site helping its users to customise, better interact and share content. The new features were made live from Wednesday.

Digg’s CEO, Jay Adelson, said the new features will allow people to personalise their Digg identity and interact with people ‘friends.’ He also said the content will allow friends to filter the contents.

Adelson also said, as more than 8000 stories are added to digg.com, it become easier for people to segregate and search through news items and features.

"We're giving users the ability to say a little bit more about themselves [and] to establish for the first time ever private messaging between themselves and other users on the site," he said. "I might have a short list of 20 people I want to have a conversation with on a certain topic."

Users can also use the feature to select stories by topic, and to access stories their friends have submitted on commented on, Adelson said.
