BEA Systems has announced WebLogic Server 10.3, the next release of the Java application server based on the Java Platform, Enterprise Edition 5.
With this release, BEA will be supporting key enterprise initiatives including Web 2.0, enhancements for Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), as well as delivering on its microService Architecture.
BEA is working on WebLogic Server by adding key Web 2.0 capabilities that combine rock-solid enterprise foundation of WebLogic Server. SOA also continues to be a major focus for BEA in this release. WebLogic Server 10.3 will offer standards updates and interoperability with Microsoft .NET. Additional features include support for Java SE 6, SAML 2 and Spring 2.1, which will provide significant control, improved security and OSS enhancements.
BEA introduced mSA last year with the goal of delivering a lightweight platform based on native Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) standards and designed to be more open, interoperable, embeddable and naturally extensible for third-party development. WebLogic Server 10.3 represents a key milestone around BEA's engineering investment in modularity with improved capabilities and new lightweight options for installation that increase developer speed and dramatically reduce the overall footprint of WebLogic Server.
"In addition to WebLogic Server's long-term leadership in the application server industry, BEA remains committed to continuously pushing the envelope in performance and speed," said Wai Wong, executive vice president or products, BEA Systems, Inc. "While many of BEA's key competitors have yet to deliver a Java EE 5 compatible server, BEA WebLogic Server 10.3 will bring to market the next wave of enhancements and support for this key specification." |
