Google Now Wants More Vista Changes

Google, the Internet search superpower says it is not satisfied the changes Microsoft ahs done to its Windows Vista's desktop search and indexing tool.

Though Microsoft agreed to fix the problem Tuesday after a meeting with the Department of Justice, and 17 state attorneys general, Google says antitrust officials should do more.

"Microsoft's current approach to Vista desktop search clearly violates the consent decree and limits consumer choice," David Drummond, Google's chief legal officer, said in an e-mail Wednesday. "We are pleased that as a result of Google's request that the consent decree be enforced, the Department of Justice and state Attorneys General have required Microsoft to make changes to Vista.

"These remedies are a step in the right direction, but they should be improved further to give consumers greater access to alternate desktop search providers."
