New Plugin to Make Symfony Faster

Francois Zaninotto tells you about a new plugin that was featured in the 'plugin of the (last) week' series. He refers to a recent post by Pierre Minieur in the Symfony mailing list.

He quotes the post by Pierre. Pierre speaks about sfOptimizerPlugin. With this he carried out many applications to optimize performance and had an average execution time of ~150ms per page, which leads to ~100ms in the production environment which is slower according to his standards.

After installing the plugin and running PHP symfony optimize public staging over the environment, the execution time was reduced by 50ms from ~150ms down to ~90ms. The production environment became faster too, with only ~30ms to serve pages which made it 70 per cent faster.

Pierre recommends everyone to add cronjobs on the production servers running this task from time to time to optimize cached configuration files, compiled classes and cached templates, and everything that's not optimized yet.
