Eclipse DTP – Extending the Frameworks Using Enablement Project |

DTP project provides an extensible framework that enables database vendors and developers to extend the base deliverables to provide support for their own database. In this workshop, attendees will be taken through the process of designing an enablement profile to support a particular database.
At JAX India 2007, Hui Cao will chalk out the workshop. At the end of the presentation, attendees can hope to accomplish the following:
- Model specialisation by changing the SQL models
- Model specialisation by changing the DBDefinition models
- Add new Driver Definition Template for connecting to the database
- Create Connection Profile type for the new database
- Extending the catalog loader based on the default catalog loader to specialise for database
- Contribute content provider and label provider to show the elements in Data Source Explorer
- Contributing actions and menu’s to the Data Source Explorer
Hui Cao is the Eclipse DTP Committer. Hui is a staff software engineer at Sybase R&D Centre located in Shanghai, China, leading a team working on Database Development Tooling project, which is a part of Sybase WorkSpace product-- an Eclipse based SOA IDE. Hui has seven years of software industry experiences using Java and Eclipse, with the certification of Enterprise Architect for J2EE from Sun. He is a committer of the Eclipse DTP (Data Tools Platform) SQL Dev Tools project and has spoken at EclipseCon 2006 about DTP.
Attend Hui’s power worshop and gain a good understanding on how to implement the different ways in which DTP can be extended. There will be actual code written to create a working enablement profile to support a database.
