Ericom Observes Increased Adoption of Linux Desktops in the European Auto Industry |

Ericom Software, a provider of Enterprise Wide Application Access solutions, has said that PSA Peugeot Citroen, a French has chosen to implement Ericom's PowerTerm application access solution as part of its enterprise Linux desktop deployment. As part of a multiyear contract with Novell, PSA Peugeot Citroen will install SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop from Novell on up to 20,000 computers, the company said.
As an enterprise-wide application access solution, Ericom's PowerTerm provides secure access to mission-critical data and applications from Linux desktops and thin clients. PowerTerm provides access to Windows applications residing on Windows Terminal Servers and legacy applications residing on host systems—from Linux desktops, the company said. Ericom's solution enables full Linux desktop compatibility—providing organisations with the flexibility for an agile and productive business environment, the company added. "When engaging with PSA Peugeot Citroen to establish SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop as their next-generation desktop platform, we found that Ericom's PowerTerm has been a critical component of the overall solution," said Roger Levy, Novell vice president and general manager of Open Platform Solutions.
