Maxcom Deploys Juniper Routers in Core of Multiplay Network

Juniper has revealed that Mexican national telecommunications carrier Maxcom has upgraded its IP/MPLS backbone network with Juniper Networks M-series to support its carrier-grade Voice over IP (VoIP) service and other new multiplay service offerings. Maxcom had previously deployed Juniper Networks E-series at the network edge as the first phase of an upgrade to enable the introduction of IPTV and other multiplay services, and is now upgrading its core with the M-series to ensure performance throughout the IP network, Juniper representatives said.

"By upgrading our core network with the M-series, we are able to ensure our quality of service levels and meet our service level agreements today and well into the future", said Ricardo Arevalo, chief operating officer and chief technology officer of Maxcom.

Juniper Networks M-series combines IP/MPLS capabilities with performance. The M-series allows providers to consolidate multiple networks onto a single IP/MPLS infrastructure, while enabling the generation of new revenue with services such as VoIP. Using the JUNOS software, the M-series enable providers to maximise revenue opportunities, the company claimed.

"Maxcom had originally deployed Juniper Networks E-series to enable the delivery of IPTV and Multiplay services at the network edge, and we are very pleased to see they are now also upgrading the core with our M-series", said Tim Lambie, vice president, Americas International, Juniper Networks.
