GWT Designer 1.5 to Create Ajax Web Applications

GWT Designer 1.5, a development tool for the Google Web Toolkit (GWT) can be used for creating Ajax Web applications using Java. It is built on WindowBuilder Pro, an Eclipse tool for creating Java graphical user-interface(GUIs) applications for Microsoft, Linux, Macintosh and other operating systems. It is the product of Instantiations, a provider of software quality and productivity solutions.

Since GWT Designer is based on the WindowBuilder technology, developers can focus on creating and testing rich Internet applications using Eclipse, Java and GWT, without worrying about complex Ajax coding. It provides developers with a WYSIWYG construction environment allowing them to simply drag-and-drop composites, layouts and controls, as well as cut and paste code inside their favorite text editor when building user interfaces.

New features include:

  • Added support for Linux development platforms
  • Support for GWT releases 1.2 and 1.3
  • Support for visual inheritance making it easier to reuse code and visual designs, as well as extract super-classes for reuse.
  • Ensures valid GWT Java code.
