The Singapore Science Centre and the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) have come together to launch ‘iFuture – a touch of tomorrow’.
iFuture is an experiential journey through 4,000 square metres of technology, and hosts technology applications built within a diverse range of interactive exhibits in five specialty areas.
iFuture together with its sister exhibition, i-Space, will feature some exhibits that have yet to be unveiled in the commercial market, IDA representatives claimed.
i-Space, will employ Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to enable visitors to automatically receive exhibit information based on pre-selected level of understanding by a process known as iTouch.
The use of RFID is just one of a series of firsts at the Singapore Science Centre. Anchor exhibits like the Digital Touch Table—a modernised work area, The Odyssey Report—a recreation of a ‘touchless’ office operation experience and the Audio Spotlight—a product of MIT Media Lab are just a few highlights that visitors can expect to experience for the first time at i-Space.
Together with classical automatons, contemporary robotics and futuristic high-tech gadgets from iFuture, both exhibitions will come together to showcase mankind’s intelligence, inventiveness and ingenuity in science and technology.
Together, both the Singapore Science Centre and IDA will work on ensuring that i-Space is kept current. This is also in tandem with IDA’s ten-year plan—Intelligent Nation 2015 (iN2015).
The exhibition is divided into five main categories:
- Gizmo Dome
- Mechanical Cabaret Theatre
- The Singapore IT Story
- Virtual World
- i-Space
