Indiagames Crosses One Million BREW Downloads

India-based mobile game developer, Indiagames, has announced that one million of its BREW-based applications have been downloaded so far this year. The company noted that it reached this one million mark in a shorter span of time than in 2005, indicating "the increased availability and adoption of its titles in India and around the world". The company singled out their licensed BREW releases The Mummy, Scorpion King, Predator, and Spy Kids as their leading BREW releases in 2006.

A recent study conducted by Indiagames on 'downloading factors' found that sports, superheroes and celebrities are the major influencing factors that users in India consider before downloading applications. Of these categories, cricket was one of the most popular, followed by superhero theme-based games. Movie and comic strip-based games such as Predator, Bruce Lee and Garfield also are very popular among users. The study has indicated a steady rise in the popularity of mobile game shows and celebrity-based content since their introduction in 2004 by Indiagames.

"Indiagames began developing wireless applications using Qualcomm’s BREW solution because it is a flexible platform that has enabled us to introduce innovative games not just in India but across the globe", said Vishal Gondal, CEO and founder of Indiagames.

He continued, "The BREW solution has been instrumental to us once again achieving the one million download mark, and we are certain that our relationship with Qualcomm will continue to grow and set new benchmarks in the world of mobile gaming."

Qualcomm itself released statistics toting the continued adoption of BREW in June, when it announced that publishers and developers had earned more than USD 700 million from the sale of BREW applications and services since the first operator launch of BREW-based services in November 2001.
