The global developer population will exceed 17 million by 2009. 46% growth is predicted between 2005 and 2009 in the worldwide developer population. The APAC region will overtake the EMEA region in 2007 as the home of more professional developers than any other area. By 2009 four out of every ten developers will be found in this region. That is an 81% increase from 2005 compared to just a 15% in North America for the same period, as per the Evans Data Corp Global Developer Population and Demographics Report.
Other findings from the first edition Global Developer Population and Demographics Survey are:
- The United States, India, and China will maintain their global lead in number of developers through 2009
- By the year 2009, China’s developer population is expected to overtake Japan’s
- The top 15 countries comprise over two-thirds of global developer population
