New Citrix Products Offer WAN Optimisation, Application Accelaration
Citrix Systems has rolled out the Citrix WANScaler 8000 Series of Wide Area Network (WAN) optimisation solutions. With industry analysts expecting the WAN optimisation market to double to more than USD 1.2 billion by 20091, and an estimated 55 percent of all employees worldwide accessing their applications from branch offices, WAN optimisation solutions are rapidly becoming a critical infrastructure requirement for enterprises around the world.
“Delivering applications to branch offices is far too difficult for enterprises today,” said Wes Wasson, Corporate VP, product marketing & strategy, Citrix. “Citrix WANScaler sets a new standard in branch office application delivery, making WAN optimisation simpler for enterprises of all sizes".
The WANScaler 8000 Series includes the WANScaler 8500 and the WANScaler 8800 models. The WANScaler 8500 is a 1U appliance with a fault-tolerant RAID disks, and is ideal for deployment into medium and large branch offices. The WANScaler 8800 is a 2U appliance designed for datacenters delivering applications throughout the enterprise. It offers high-performance hardware redundancy features, such as dual power supplies, dual fans and RAID disks. WANScaler 8000 products also support the company’s WANScaler Client, which provides application acceleration to all remote users, including employees in 'micro branches,' home offices and on the road.
The WANScaler 8500 and 8800 products are available immediately. List price for the WANScaler 8500 starts at USD 8,500 and the WANScaler 8800 begins at USD 40,000.
