HP has named Som Mittal as the Senior Vice President of HP Services for Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ). Mittal will lead the HP Services business in the Asia Pacific region, with effect from October 2, 2006. He takes over this position from Siaou-Sze Lien, who retires from HP as Senior Vice President of HP Services, Asia-Pacific and Japan on September 30, 2006. “We are delighted to have Som take over the leadership of the critical HP Services business in Asia Pacific and Japan,” said Tom Iannotti, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Asia Pacific & Japan. “In addition to his industry expertise, Som will bring with him a strong understanding of customers’ requirements from a strategic enterprise services provider such as HP. We are confident that Som’s leadership will build on our strong momentum in this high-growth business in Asia Pacific.”
Mittal was Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of Digital Equipment India Limited between 1994 and 1999. He went on to serve as the Managing Director & Country General Manager of Compaq India in 1998-99, post Digital’s worldwide merger with Compaq Computer. Mittal has also worked for Wipro Infotech (heading the Business Solutions Division) as well as in the automobile industry with Denso India (a subsidiary of DENSO, Japan of Toyota group) and Escorts Limited. Mr Mittal will be based in Bangalore, India.
