Comodo, a provider of Identity and Trust Assurance Management solutions, has announced the availability of SiteMon, a web site continuity monitoring service. Comodo SiteMon checks corporate, e-commerce and enterprise web sites every ten minutes to ensure they are up and running and viewable to the public.
The free service sends an 'http://' request to a chosen URL every ten minutes and also monitors the web page for the presence of three keywords. If these keywords are not detected, due to the web site being down, unresponsive or the keywords being removed by accident, then the account holder is alerted of the problem via e-mail. SiteMon allows web site owners and network administrators to:
- Check that a web server is available by sending a standard 'http://' request every ten minutes
- Monitor the page title and three keywords to ensure page content loads correctly and has not been modified
- Identify slow web sites by providing detailed server response times via the online reporting feature
- Instantly receive notification via e-mail should the web-server fail any of the tests
The monitoring tool is easy to configure and requires no downloads or software installation, running remotely from secure servers managed by Comodo. Web site owners create an account here, and fill out a short form specifying which URLs and keywords they would like the service to check. Existing Hacker Guardian account holders can log into the service with their existing username and password.
"E-merchants and online businesses are dependent on the availability of their web servers for revenue generation", said Melih Abdulhayoglu, President and CEO of Comodo. "SiteMon provides virtually immediate feedback regarding the accessibility and visibility of a merchant's web site. This information is critical as it mitigates the risk of revenue loss resulting from a website being down. We are confident that e-merchants of all classes will find immediate value in this free service." Comodo SiteMon is available now here.
