The Mozilla Corporation has released a Beta 2 version of its forthcoming Firefox 2.0 browser. The Mozilla Foundation has been working round the clock to complete its Firefox 2.0 web browser. Beta 1 RC was released in early July and a month later it was announced that Mozilla was delaying Beta 2 due to some show-stopping bugs. Those major bugs have been dealt with and Firefox 2.0 Beta 2 has now been released to the public. Mozilla is still on track to release the final version of Firefox 2.0 on September 26.
Firefox 2.0 is an upgrade of the breakaway browser, which added some key features from its previous incarnation. Some of the features in the latest version are built-in phishing protection, smaller memory footprint, improved tabbed browsing, an inbuilt spell check for bulletin boards, and a much needed session restore option that opens up the same web sites you were browsing in case of a lockup or crash.
The next stage will be the launch of a Release Candidate 1, which is scheduled for 19 September.
