Apple has released MacBook SMC Firmware Update, which adjusts fan behavior in the MacBook. Some MacBook users recently lodged complaints about their lightweight portable computers getting uncomfortably hot. Others complained about the noise made by the cooling fans.
The new firmware released for the MacBook can be downloaded from the Apple support site. This firmware revision patches the MacBook’s System Management Controller (SMC). The SMC is a micro-controller on the logic board of the MacBook and other Mac laptops that controls various functions, including power and thermal management. Once this update is applied, the SMC version will appear as 1.4f10.
