Despite Naysayers, IMS Has Potential in Enterprise Market
Despite widespread views to the contrary, enterprise businesses will likely become a hot market for IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) services, reports In-Stat.
"IMS provides enterprises with the means of accommodating secure data transmittal and communication between remote workers, outsourced third-party vendors and trusted corporate partners," says Keith Nissen, In-Stat analyst.
Carriers can use IMS-based network applications and services to become more than just suppliers of enterprise transport facilities, added Keith Nissen.
According to In-Stat the integration of IMS-based network capabilities into enterprise operations (internal processes such as order entry, CRM, etc.) will also increase corporate reliance on network services.
Enterprises will be able to use the resilient IMS network architecture to access highly survivable data centers and eliminate the need for expensive, dedicated stand-by systems/network facilities, said In-Stat.
Over 45% of respondents to an In-Stat survey indicated they would consider re-engineering internal processes to take advantage of IMS-based network services with lower-cost business continuity capabilities.
