Google has unveiled a new feature, designed to protect its advertisers from fraud, in a move to combat click fraud. Google will be providing its AdWords customers with information on how many times it believes their ads have been clicked on fraudulently.
The company is currently facing legal cases over click fraud with some of its advertisers and the release of the new feature could help Google in tackling the problem.
Google sell ads to its clients for certain keywords, and companies pay each time users click on their ads. However, companies or individuals using special software can click on an ad repeatedly to tamper a rival’s marketing costs or to increase their ad revenue.
Google said the new service would give advertisers a real-time view of how many clicks the company is filtering out as fraudulent.
