Trying to keep unwanted e-mail at bay is a significant challenge that you face daily, and is one of the biggest problems on the Internet today. Dealing with the problem has taken many roads, as the market for anti-spam services; third-party tools and other ways to combat Spam continue to grow. For both corporate users and ISP subscribers, the Spam problem is rapidly getting worse, as 'Spammers' increase their output and conjure up new ways to bypass existing filters.
According to the Radicati Group’s latest study, 'E-mail and Collaboration Corporate Survey, 2006-2007' fighting Spam continues to be a top priority for businesses in 2006, despite the broad range of anti-Spam products available today.
E-mail archiving is also a top priority for businesses in 2006. This is expected to be a lucrative market, since 39% of respondents indicated that they have plans to deploy an e-mail archiving system in the near future.
With the recent release of IBM Lotus Domino 7 and the upcoming release of MS Exchange 2007, upgrading messaging software is also high on the priority list for many businesses. 83% of survey respondents are either in the process of upgrading, or plan to upgrade their messaging software within the next 18 months.
The size of e-mail messages and the volume of e-mail traffic increased at a rapid pace in 2006. These factors will combine to drive up corporate bandwidth and storage requirements by 61% in 2006.
According to the survey, demand for Instant Messaging continues to be strong. 87% of survey respondents indicated that they use IM at work, and 71% of respondents indicated that their organisation uses a sanctioned IM product. Only 10% of respondents indicated that their organisation uses an IM management solution, however.
