APM Gets a Boost with Wily's Introscope 7

With more than 60% of Fortune 2000 companies using some type of Application Performance Management (APM) tool (Forrester), CA's new rollout of its Introscope 7 and Customer Experience Manager (CEM) products in the Asia-Pacific Region is positioned to provide a fillip to the APM business landscape in APAC. Introscope is a solution for monitoring and optimizing the performance of business-critical web applications. Wily CEM is intended to alert IT and business users to customer transaction defects, and enable them to manage online applications from the customer’s point of view.

“Control over web applications is essential for both IT and business success,” said Dick Williams, senior vice president and general manager of CA’s Wily Technology Division. “With Introscope 7 and CEM, organizations can manage and optimize the largest applications across the most complex environments—including Service Oriented Architectures and heterogeneous infrastructures. By collaborating with our customers, we have put more of our application management expertise ‘in the box,’ adding advanced analytics and automatic baselining features in addition to significant usability enhancements."

Introscope 7

Introscope 7 will also support a new solution for managing .NET applications, scheduled for release later this year by CA’s Wily Technology division. Intrscope allows users to utilize performance data collaboratively for application health and availability monitoring, incident triage, Service Level Agreement (SLA) management, Sarbanes-Oxley and ITIL compliance, trend analysis and capacity planning.

New features in Introscope 7 enable the automatic discovery, monitoring, triage and baselining of an application environment with zero configuration.

Introscope 7 is the platform for Introscope for Microsoft .NET, scheduled for release later in 2006. Introscope for .NET will be able to monitor .NET applications running in the production environment down to the component level, including their interactions with back end databases such as Microsoft SQL Server.

Wily Customer Experience Manager (CEM)

CA’s Wily Technology is also introducing the latest version of its Customer Experience Manager (CEM) product. Wily CEM alerts IT staff and business teams to defective customer transactions or problem incidents in packaged or custom applications, including those from Siebel, SAP, Oracle and others whether they are built on Java, .NET, mainframe, or legacy technologies. CEM seamlessly integrates with Introscope 7, allowing data regarding the performance of customer transactions captured by Wily CEM to be analyzed with Introscope’s application performance management tools.

"In today’s large enterprises, the costs related to the production management of applications is continuing to escalate, consuming valuable staff resources and postponing new technology initiatives," said Stephen Elliot, research manager at IDC. "Organizations can mitigate this expense and avoid costly downtime failure by implementing a comprehensive, enterprise-wide solution to monitor the performance of applications and connected back end systems."

On March 7, 2006, CA acquired Wily Technology for USD 375 mln. It later became the Wily Technology division within CA’s Enterprise Systems Management business unit. Wily benefits from CA investment in R&D, and the CA partner and sales networks. Wily achieved 278 percent growth in Asia-Pacific in 2005 and some of their big ticket customers include: NTT DoCoMo, Telstra, Aus HIC,Korea Exchange Bank, AIG, and Japan Railway.
