Nokia has unveiled the Nokia 6708, a compact business device featuring pen-based touch-screen input and English/simplified Chinese language handwriting recognition. The Nokia 6708 is expected to be commercially available from 2nd Quarter 2006 in selected Asia Pacific markets. The estimated retail price is expected to be USD 330 before subsidies or taxes.
The Nokia 6708 uses a pen-based touch-screen user interface allowing users to write in simplified Chinese text, and access the phone’s features. The pen input can be used for writing English and simplified Chinese characters, either by using the full display screen to write in continuous strokes or use the virtual keyboard to touch type your messages and data. The touch screen is 2.66 inches wide.
The Nokia 6708 supports POP3/IMAP4/SMTP email protocols with attachments. The phone also presents multimedia functions that is aimed at helping employees balance work and play with its entertainment features including music player, video player, games, 1.3 mega pixel camera with anti-shaking and multi-shot features.

"The new device is in line with Nokia’s vision of enabling workforce mobility. We believe it's an important addition to Nokia's wide ranging product portfolio for business people."
