In a global basis, there is a significant start in software business. The growth is very exciting. Sitting in a Presidential Lecture in Indonesia, Chairman of Microsoft Corporation, Bill Gates, elaborates Microsoft Corporation's plan from nowadays to the future.

According to Gates, in the next 10 years, Windows PC will doing more for social networking, such as for research, healthcare, etc. He adds, in the future, Windows will also can do speech recognition. He said that it helps many people who can not use the keyboard or mouse.

Furthermore, Microsoft plans to make computer can work anytime when it touched. "Speech, ink, and touch are coming to the mainstream," said Gates in Jakarta.

Regarding his visit to Jakarta, Gates said that Indonesia has so much potential. He said that Microsoft will help this country to take the opportunity. "All of us should be optimistic," said Gates.

On the other hand, The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry regarded that Bill Gates visit to Indonesia as a positive sign that business and investment climate in Indonesia is increasingly conducive for global players, especially those in the ICT sectors.

Previously, several global ICT companies made Indonesia as the basis for business development in the Asia Pasific region and many talented Indonesians worked as company executives in the regional and global levels. "The ICT sector contribution to the Indonesian economy continuous to increase, along with the increased investment of government and private entities," said Chris Kanter, Chairman Organizing Committee of Presidential Lecture.

Kanter adds, it is well-known that Indonesia's telecommunications sector is growth. He adds, government and Internet service providers are also optimistic that number of internet users will increase this year.

Besides the positive impact on the business and investment growth in the ICT sectors, Bill Gates's visit provide an important issues in the global ICT sectors.

Currently, Microsoft employs more than 78,000 people in 105 countries and regions. Under Gates's leadership, Microsoft's mission has been to continually advance and improve software technology. The company is committed to a long term view, reflected in its investment of approximately USD 7.1 billion on researh and development in the 2007 fiscal year.
