Microsoft has released a free trial service for enterprise customers to experience Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, the platform for e-mail, calendaring and unified messaging. The trial service will be implemented and managed by Unisys, a technology services and solutions company. As a result, enterprise customers will have the opportunity to evaluate the many new features of Exchange Server 2007, including anywhere access using a PC, the Web or a mobile phone.

Microsoft selected Unisys to manage this trial service based on the company’s deep expertise in developing solutions based on the Microsoft platform and its ability to manage reliable enterprise-class applications. The comprehensive vertical and virtual scalability attributes of the Unisys ES7000 server provide the foundation for the Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 platform so enterprises can communicate and collaborate more securely and efficiently.

“Microsoft is pleased to collaborate with Unisys to offer this free managed service for customers,” said Peter Boit, vice president for the Enterprise and Partner Group at Microsoft. “We hear from our enterprise customers they want technology solutions with built-in features to help keep their business secure, productive and moving forward. This free trial enables customers to test-drive the capabilities included in Exchange Server that address these key areas. By offering this trial with Unisys, we’re giving customers an opportunity to evaluate the new levels of security and mobility so they can have a firsthand account of how the technology can help their enterprise thrive.”

“Unisys is excited to work with Microsoft on expanding the communication and collaboration experience to enterprise organisations that are seeking increased productivity and business performance benefits from Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 and the integration of unified messaging,” said Peter Tripp, vice president of Strategic Programme Office, Global Outsourcing and Infrastructure Services at Unisys. “This is a great opportunity for Unisys to leverage our deep vertical telecom expertise while helping customers realise a unified communications and collaboration platform that offers greater security, scalability and flexibility. This trial is evidence of Unisys’ commitment to securing and delivering mission-critical information to clients that can result in a competitive advantage, help ensure secure business operations, and help reduce management costs.”

According to the company, Exchange Server 2007 addresses these critical enterprise concerns with the following features:

  • Built-in protection
  • Anywhere access
  • Operational efficiency
